                        important facts to know

                              when in public dress nicely as icelanders tend to keep a well kept apperance in public . in iceland starngers are often greeted, although not greeting strangers is not impolite. saying SÅ“ll (to a man) or SÅ“l (to a woman) is a common greeting in iceland, this means "happy" or "glad".    in summer the hours of daylight are extremly long 20+ hours, in the winmter however iceland usually only gets 4-5 hours.  the northern lights light up icelands sky almost every night.
